As a Child in the Temple

“I'm looking forward to my death,” she said.
I sat upright. I watched her blond hair sway,
this college girl who taught our Sunday School.
“In death, we’ll see God face to face,” she said.
“Now through a glass darkly; then face to face.”
She cried a tear or two, composed herself,
and said, “Let’s turn our Bibles to First John ....”
